After 35 years, Dr. John Hunt retired from the AnMed Board of Trustees on August 2.
(Anderson, S.C. – Aug. 25, 2021) – Hunt, a general surgeon in Anderson, South Carolina, from 1975 to 2010, made invaluable contributions to the board of trustees as a member from 1986 to 2021, serving many times as chairman.
“I am most proud of being part of a board that takes seriously its goal of improving the health of our community. It was quite a privilege for me to be able to work with others who shared that passion,” Hunt said.
Hunt chaired the Partners for Life Campaign in 2003, which raised more than $8 million in community donations to build the AnMed Cancer Center and Women’s and Children’s Hospital to offer top-notch, comprehensive care locally.
Hunt was also a fundraising champion for other local entities that shared AnMed’s mission of improving health in the community, including Hospice of the Upstate and the Anderson YMCA.
The Anderson native was the first recipient of the AnMed Foundation Physician Champion Award for his dedication to philanthropy.
“We sincerely thank Dr. Hunt for his dedicated leadership, service and invaluable contribution to the organization and community. We are forever grateful for his support of our health system,” said William Kenley, AnMed CEO.
