Hospital Infection Rates
In order to provide high quality health care, hospitals must provide a safe environment for patients. That’s why AnMed physicians and staff work internally and with outside organizations, such as DNV Healthcare and the South Carolina Hospital Association, to reduce and eliminate hospital acquired infections.
AnMed believes in being transparent in our efforts to improve all areas of quality for our patients. All South Carolina hospitals are required to report hospital-acquired infections to the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). To view DHEC’s most recent report on hospital-acquired infections, go to www.scdhec.gov/hai.
Hospitals that care for Medicare patients also report hospital acquired conditions to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Hospital acquired conditions are any conditions patients get after being admitted to the hospital. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services compiles and reports this information.
AnMed Rehabilitation Hospital is joint venture with Encompass Health, a leading provider of rehabilitation services nationwide. The Rehabilitation Hospital is a 60-bed facility that provides inpatient rehabilitation. Our staff is committed to investing the time and effort that it takes to help every patient return to the community with the highest level of independence possible.
Inpatient rehabilitation differs greatly from a skilled nursing facility in that physicians have contact with patients daily, allowing them to evaluate progress more frequently and work with the therapy team to adjust the program. Most patients in our inpatient program receive an average of three hours of therapy each day.
Rehabilitation services can help anyone needing to improve their mobility, speech or self care skills after being affected by a stroke, neurological disorder, orthopedic surgery, brain or spinal cord injury, amputation, chronic arthritis pain, cardiac or respiratory disorder. Talk with your physician about which program or combination is right for you.
AnMed Rehabilitation Hospital is a Joint Commission certified stroke rehabilitation facility and hip fracture facility. And that says a lot. For the patient, it means we offer the highest standards of patient care and our staff is some of the most experienced and qualified in stroke and hip fracture rehabilitation services.
AnMed Rehabilitation Hospital uses the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR), the rehabilitation industry's most widely recognized outcomes measurement tool, to monitor overall patient outcomes. This system measures the effectiveness of our hospitals' rehabilitation programs by evaluating and tracking a patient's functional status upon admission, discharge and post-discharge to document the level of disability and to assess the effectiveness of rehabilitation. UDSMR also allows HealthSouth to benchmark its rehabilitation hospitals against regional and national performance data.
AnMed Rehabilitation Hospital has received top recognition from UDSMR for the fourth time. AnMed has ranked in the top 10 percent of qualifying rehabilitation hospitals for 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2007.

AnMed Women's and Children's Hospital has been nationally recognized for patient satisfaction by Professional Research Consultants (PRC).
Each month, PRC surveyors contact dozens of AnMed patients and ask them to rate their overall care as excellent, very good, good, fair or poor. PRC uses this data to rank its health care clients, allowing hospitals and health care facilities to compare themselves to their peers.
During PRC's National Excellence in Healthcare Awards, AnMed Women's and Children's Hospital, AnMed Kids' Care and AnMed Pediatric Therapy Works received 5 STAR Awards, putting them in the top 10 percent of PRC's national client database.
