Externship

Rising 4th-year medical students are invited to apply to our four-week Family Medicine Externship to experience working alongside our wonderful residents for themselves.

VSLO program

The AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities™ (VSLO®) program allows medical and public health students to engage in short-term learning experiences outside of their Home institutions. These opportunities encompass observerships, summer research programs, clinical rotations, away electives, and visiting opportunities. The acting internship rotation is from August through December. View a sample schedule [PDF]. Students enrolled in LCME or COCA-accredited U.S. medical schools can submit their application through the Visiting Student Application Service beginning each year on April 1. Application requirements will be available for students to review in VSAS by March 1.

Visiting Anderson

Visiting Anderson is the best way to truly appreciate the clinical strengths and collegial atmosphere in the AnMed Family Medicine Residency Program. Based upon feedback from our applicants during previous interview seasons, we're planning to offer two options for interviews during the coming recruiting season:

  1. Interview in person: We encourage applicants to interview in person. We will provide overnight accommodations and meals during the time you spend in our community during the interview to help minimize your direct cost.
  2. Interview Virtually: For applicants who would find the expense to travel to our community excessive, we will offer virtual interview days spread throughout the recruiting calendar. These will be clearly marked as "Virtual Day" following the morning interviews.

All interviews are self-scheduled in ERAS.

The strong inpatient education I received balanced with the tremendous outpatient training made me very comfortable in this setting and I was able to thrive in practice. It is something I often looked back upon and always felt confident in my medical knowledge and training.
