Curriculum Overview

The Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded foundation in sports medicine. Rotations change monthly or biweekly and include: include:

  • Primary Care Sports Medicine (4 months) 
  • Orthopedic Surgery (1 month)
  • Orthopedia Sub-specialties (2 months)
  • Musculoskeletal Radiology/Ultrasound (1 month)
  • Nutrition and Exercise Physiology (1 month)
  • Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation (1 month)
  • Sports Pharmacology (2 weeks)
  • Sports Ethics (2 weeks)
  • Sports Cardiology (1 month)

A fellow’s basic weekly schedule is as follows:

  • Sunday: OFF
  • Monday: Rotation in the morning, Anderson University training room in the afternoon
  • Tuesday: Primary Care Sports Medicine Clinic in the morning, Sports Medicine conference, Clemson University training room/Intramural clinic in the afternoon
  • Wednesday: Rotation in the morning, Anderson University training room in the afternoon
  • Thursday: 7:30 a.m. conference, Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Clinic at the AnMed Family Medicine Residency Program
  • Friday: Rotation in the morning, research time and event coverage in the afternoon and evening
  • Saturday: event coverage/Bump and Bruise Clinic.
    • Event coverage varies widely by season and sport. A fellow’s weekly schedule may change to accommodate event coverage needs.
