We are better together.

That’s why AnMed partners with leading institutions and organizations. More abilities, more services, more access, more convenience and less cost are provided to Upstate South Carolina and northeast Georgia thanks to our collaborations.

Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC)

AnMed has partnered with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) since 2014, when we became the first branch campus of the Charleston-based medical school. This collaboration has grown to connect the health systems of the South Carolina Upstate and Lowcountry, expanding clinical and educational opportunities.

The affiliation gives you access to leading treatments, including cardiothoracic services and other procedures not available elsewhere in the area. It also provides 24/7 virtual care. The partnership helps lower costs, improve access, and attract top physicians to the region.

We also developed MUSC Health Transplant - Anderson, a clinic that makes kidney transplant care more convenient for Upstate residents. Patients can now receive pre-surgery and post-surgery care close to home, making preparation, treatment, and recovery easier and more comfortable.

The center treats all Anderson University student-athletes and supports our sports medicine fellowship program. This routine and specialized care also helps us deliver premier orthopedic medicine and sports medicine services to patients of all ages.

AnMed provides clinical rotations for nursing students, giving them hands-on experience and access to our electronic health records system, thanks to a partnership with Epic Systems. Other joint programs with Anderson University include the Anderson University Center for Cancer Research and access to laboratories where physicians can practice the latest techniques and procedures.

Other Partnerships

AnMed works with many clinical, educational and community partners to improve care for everyone. We founded Piedmont Health Partners with the medical community to lower costs, improve health, enhance the patient experience, and increase provider satisfaction. This network of physicians, providers, and facilities coordinates and manages care across the full continuum for patient populations.

Based in Greenwood, AnMed and Self Regional Healthcare created Upstate Health Partners to better manage rising costs and provide greater value to South Carolina. This partnership allows the two not-for-profit health systems to operate more efficiently and build economies of scale. These efforts benefit Upstate residents through investments in technology, new services, and specialized expertise.

Our commitment to expanding healthcare access shows in our innovative programs. The Quick Response Vehicle program, run with Anderson County and MedShore, is one example. Staffed by paramedics, it delivers fast emergency care to rural residents. Our joint ventures at AnMed ENT - Anderson and Upstate Gastroenterology bring high-quality specialty care to the local community.

We also support the Upstate through donations, contributions, and sponsorships. Partners like the Anderson Free Clinic, United Way of Anderson County, and the Cancer Association of Anderson help improve lives every day. Nurse training and scholarship programs at Tri-County Technical College strengthen the healthcare workforce. Read more about all our partnerships in our Annual Report.
