Dr. Pona is board-certified in internal medicine and completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Prisma Health–University of South Carolina in Greenville in June 2025. He cares for a wide range of digestive concerns, including acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome and colon cancer screening. His approach is based on current medical guidance and tailored to your symptoms, goals and comfort.

You can expect clear explanations, thoughtful answers and care that respects your concerns. Dr. Pona believes good digestive health starts with understanding what your body is telling you and working together on a plan that fits your life.

Originally from Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Pona earned his medical degree from Wroclaw Medical University in Wroclaw, Poland. He completed his internal medicine residency at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Dr. Pona’s interest in medicine began after a childhood injury and the calm, supportive care he received from his physician. That experience continues to guide how he supports you during uncertain or stressful moments.

He is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association. He speaks English and Polish and is accepting new patients.

Outside of work, he enjoys painting, playing tennis and basketball and spending time with his fiancée and family. He also enjoys visiting his grandparents in Poland when possible.
