What is Critical Care?

You may hear critical care referred to as intensive care. It's for people who are seriously ill or have experienced a traumatic injury. Care takes place in an intensive care unit (ICU)—a specialized area in a hospital that provides close monitoring and high-level treatment.

Intensive Care & Treatment

You’ll receive 24-hour personalized care in a nurturing setting if you need to stay in the ICU at AnMed Medical Center. Rely on our experts for the treatment and management of:

  • Blood infections (sepsis) or other serious infectious diseases
  • Diabetes complications
  • Heart attack or heart failure
  • Organ or respiratory failure
  • Post-surgery recovery, complications or infection
  • Serious burns
  • Shock
  • Severe injury (trauma)
  • Stroke

Depend on our emergency care staff and your critical care team to give you the best possible treatment using life-saving techniques and advanced equipment. Your care plan may include machines to help you breathe, monitor vital signs, and get fluid, medicine and nutrition. You’ll have access to physical and speech therapy if necessary.

Expect 24/7 bedside and remote monitoring and the availability of specialty telemedicine doctors to consult for complex care in addition to in-person medical staff. You and your family will have daily multidisciplinary care team visits and updates.
