Dr. Vasant Jayasankar is a cardiac and thoracic surgeon who treats adult patients at AnMed Cardiothoracic Surgery in Anderson, SC. He is the Medical Director of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery at AnMed and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. Before joining AnMed, Dr. Jayasankar practiced for 13 years in Florida.
Dr. Jayasankar is trained in minimally invasive chest, heart and lung procedures. His clinical interests include cardiac surgery including coronary artery bypass surgery, complex valve repair and replacement, ascending aorta and aortic root surgery, heart failure surgery, MAZE procedure for atrial fibrillation, and robotic and video-assisted thoracic surgery, as well as robotic surgery for hyperhidrosis.
Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Jayasankar loves to travel and enjoys fine dining. His interests include cooking, reading and spending time with family. He has two children; one works in finance in New York City, and the other studies nuclear engineering.
