One of the first college classes I took was anatomy and physiology. Not long after starting it, I was hooked! This led me to a medical career as an occupational therapy assistant before becoming a physician assistant. My therapy role allowed me to see orthopedic patients in their post-op recovery phase and learn how to support them.

My experiences in therapy led me to return to school to become a physician assistant. I chose an orthopedic surgery specialty because it incorporates my love of anatomy, medicine and building relationships with people. I give knee injections, assist in hip and knee replacement surgeries and provide post-op care after total hip or knee replacements.

Approach to Care

When you’re my patient, I’ll listen to your concerns and thoroughly explain your diagnosis and treatment plan. I think it’s important for you to have an active role in your care, so I’ll give you as much information as possible. I’ll answer your questions and address your concerns to make you feel comfortable and confident in your care.

Personal

I recently moved to South Carolina from Ohio. I enjoy spending time with my husband and our (very active) toddler. We love trying new restaurants, which has been no problem in the South! My ideal afternoon is putting together a 1,000-piece puzzle.
